Columbia is a planned community developed by the Rouse Corporation. The Columbia Maryland Archives is the primary resource on the history of the planning and development of the planned community of Columbia, as well as the life and career of its visionary founder, James Rouse.
In the early days of Columbia, there was an Exhibit Center on top floor of the building at 10215 Wincopin Circle, a location in Town Center adjacent to Lake Kittamaqundi . The Exhibit Center had displays about the Columbia “Concept” and a slide show. The Columbia Maryland Archives has made the slide show presentation available to be viewed on their web site and on YouTube.
The Archives are digitalizing their collection, so a lot of information is available on their website. Here is a link to an early Columbia newsletter. Check out the the Columbia Maryland Archives website for more resources.
