Utility work is underway in Martin Road Park related to the construction of the Brightview Columbia Senior Living facility. The current work includes: the stakeout of utility lines on Jan 23 and test pitting on Jan 24 subject to approval by Recreation and Parks. The utility work begins Jan 27, starting at Martin Road heading through the park to Athol Manor house. The projected duration for the work in Martin Road and through the park and walking path will be 8-10 working days.
Brightview Senior Living is a 170 unit facility that will include both independent and assisted living on 6.7 acres behind Martin Road Park. The project includes improvements to the park, the addition of crosswalks on Martin Road as well as renovation of historic Athol Manor for non-profit use. (SDP-19-032). Specific improvements planned are improving the existing path leading from Brightview through the park to the new bus stop; installing a new walking loop that circles the fields, installing of new benches along the path system, and adding new landscaping. Brightview is working with the Department of Public works on crosswalks including installation of a new pedestrian cross walk at High Bench connecting community to the park; installation of a new pedestrian crossing connecting the existing pathway on the west side of Martin Road south of the park; and relocation and installation of a new Bus Shelter (closer to intersection of Martin Rd. and Seneca Drive). The developer is looking at a 22 month build out with completion and occupancy of both buildings late summer/early fall 2021.
