Kimco Realty, the owner of the Hickory Ridge Village Center, submitted its plan for redevelopment of the village center to Howard County Department of Planning and Zoning on August 17, 2017. The plan is very similar to the one approved by the Design Advisory Panel in February of 2017 with minor changes as recommended by the DAP. On October 12, the Village Board received a notice from Howard County that the submission has been accepted by DPZ for formal review. The letter also requested that the village provide a Community Response Statement to the plan within 45 days. The statement will be included with the formal review done by DPZ staff. After the technical review is completed, the plan will go to the Planning Board for a recommendation before going to the Zoning Board for approval, approval with modifications, or denial of the request. Community input is allowed at both the Planning Board and the Zoning Board.
Kimco has provided a copy of the submission to the village for review by the community. Residents are welcome to stop by The Hawthorn Center to view the plans. The submission file is also available for review at the Department of Planning and Zoning.
The village board continues to work on a draft Community Response Statement at its public board meetings held the first and third Monday of every month at 7:30pm. For more information, please contact the village office at 410-730-7327.
