Atholton Overlook

DPZ is reviewing plans to build six homes on two acres assessed via a single driveway across the street from Atholton High School. The homes would be similar in size to nearby homes. (F-19-062)

Hidden Ridge

The Department of Planning and Zoning is reviewing the Site Plan for a proposal to construct 12 market rate townhomes on the property behind Abiding Savior Lutheran Church on Owen Brown Road.  The townhouses will be accessed via the existing driveway to the church.  (F-18-087)

Brightview Assisted Living

Construction has begun on Brightview Assisted Living,  a 170 unit facility that will include both independent and assisted living on 6.7 acres behind Martin Road Park.  The project includes improvements to the park, the addition of crosswalks on Martin Road as well as renovation of historic Athol Manor for non-profit use.  (SDP-19-032). Specific improvements planned are improving the existing path leading from Brightview through the park to the new bus stop; installing a new walking loop that circles the fields, installing of new benches along the path system, and adding new landscaping.  Brightview is working with the Department of Public works on crosswalks including installation of a new pedestrian cross walk at High Bench connecting community to the park; installation of a new pedestrian crossing connecting the existing pathway on the west side of Martin Road south of the park; and relocation and installation of a new Bus Shelter (closer to intersection of Martin Rd. and Seneca Drive).  The developer is looking at a 22 month build out with completion and occupancy of both buildings late summer/early fall 2021.



Locust United Methodist Church

The church located at the corner of Martin Road and Freetown Road has submitted a Site Development Plan to expand the church and add parking. (SDP-18-047)

Cedar Creek (formerly Simpson Oaks)

Phase 1 of the Final Plan for construction of 46 single family homes and 83 townhouses on a 60 acre parcel at the west end of Grace Drive (F-19-041) has been deemed technically complete by DPZ.  Phase 2 which includes 55 additional single family homes (F-18-109) is under review.

Plans are being reviewed for an environmental trail connecting the Cedar Creek development to the Robinson Nature Center.  (SDP-19-025).  This project is a community enhancement required by the County as part of the Cedar Creek development.
