Hickory Ridge Village Annual Elections will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at The Hawthorn Center, 9 am to 3 pm. Residents will elect five members to serve on the Hickory Ridge Village Board and one member to serve on the Columbia Association’s (CA) Board of Directors. The Village Board meets on the first and third Mondays of each month, and CA’s Board meets on Thursdays. To view the Election Schedule, click Election Calendar 2020.
Want to Run?
Joining the Village Board and the CA Board of Directors is a great way to make a difference in your community. Interested candidates must submit a statement of 150 words or less to the Village Manager by 5 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. The statements will be published on the village website and in the newsletter. All candidates must be members of the village association (own or rent CA-assessed property in Hickory Ridge). Who Can Vote?
One vote per unit in the New Town properties in Hickory Ridge Village.
Tenants of each unit are collectively entitled to one vote.
Owners of each unit are collectively entitled to one vote.
All voters must show proof of ownership or tenancy.
How to Vote?
In-Person on Saturday, April 25, 2020 9 am-3 pm at The Hawthorn Center. We’ll have shredding and e-cycling available 9 am-noon. You can declutter your home and vote at the same time! Plus, in-person voters will have the chance to win a fantastic Hickory Ridge Gift Basket.
Absentee Ballots will be mailed to each Hickory Ridge residence in early April. Simply fill out the ballot, insert it into the postage paid return envelope, and drop it in the mail. Please make sure to fill out all required information. Absentee Ballots will also be available at village office.
The Hickory Ridge By-Laws (Article II Section 2.03 and 4.04) state that candidates shall be deemed elective if the number of candidates is less than or equal to the number of vacant positions. If there are more than five candidates for the Village Board positions and/or more than one candidate for the Columbia Council Representative position, an election will be held.
In the event quorum is not met at the first election, a second election will be held on Saturday, May 9, 9 am to noon at The Hawthorn Center.
